Refugee youth from Southern California

"Being a refugee in America is making a country that is not your home feel like one." Malak Al-Rubaye, 19, from Iraq

To commemorate the World Refugee Day 2021, the sixth edition of My People, Our Stories focuses on refugee youth living in Southern California. In partnership with Access California Services, we trained four participants in multimedia storytelling, including 360° filmmaking. Initially hesitant to film themselves, they proudly share their struggles, dreams, and achievements, hoping that their stories will help others understand what it means to flee your country and start a new life far away from home.
